This week in the studio...
Completed: wall installation for Drawing 1. I'm fairly pleased with it. I apologize for the poor photo quality, having a hard time getting a descent shot of this piece. But, basically, it is best described as a crystalized urban virus. Within the space, it feels very invasive. I really like the subtle mimicry of forms and lines within it. Also, it contains a lot of false shadows and other small touches which make it pretty interesting. I think soon I'm going to sign out one of the 2nd floor installation rooms and explore this idea once again but with a better palette and with some material other than yarn.
So, first attempt away from yarn: pearlescent purple twine. It's shiny, holds a bizarre shape, and reminds me of Disney Princesses. Ha, not sure what to do with it yet but I like the possibilities. It's hard to see it due to the other 2 wall installations around it. Here are some more views:
